Tiny Rogue App Reviews

not too bad

the game itself is interesting to play, but it gets rather boring very quickly.

Rogue-like in pick up form!

I love Rogue and all of the Rogue-likes. But I have less and less time available for them. Tiny Rogue is perfect for a quick pick up game while waiting in line or - lets face it - on the john. Mechanics are extremely simplified which is good. I do miss some complexity such as merchants, non-combatants, etc. bit understand those would require a lot more focus on the players part. Instead, Tiny Rogue is focused on tactical movement and positioning. The one annoying flaw so far is that the game does not save if you swap to another app. Saving the current game would be excellent.

Three Words: MAKE IT EASIER

This game is incredibly hard. Chances are you wont reach your goal until your 100th try, plus with level ups that dont carry over, extremely limited carry capacity, annoying enemy placement and with their special abilities like RESURRECTION, yes, some enemies can resurrect themselves, some can go through walls and some can shoot projectiles

Solid mobile rogue like!

Really impressed with this little gem. If you like streamlined rogue likes such as Hoplite or even Downwell, youll love this game. Worth purchasing.

Simple but fun!

This is pretty light, even for a roguelite game. Even so, its compelling pick-up fun with a variety of tactical and strategic approaches to use as you descend into an endless, procedurally-generated dungeon. If youre a fan of perma-death just-one-more dungeon crawlers, youll probably like this. Ive played it dozens of times already and consider the price money well spent. Recommended.

Challenging and addictive

This game is a challenging RPG game that requires players to think before they do and as you progress it gets harder, amazing game

Perfect!

This is a great app!

Great! Dont let whiners dissuade you.

Dont let whiny reviews like echosans dissuade you, this is deceptively simple and entertaining. I dont care if there isnt a "wait" button and that certainly isnt something that should result in a 4 star penalty... Use your items to take a turn. It adds tactical depth, deciding whether to use your last throwing knife to save a health heart or save it for when you may need to chip away at something stronger later. Since there are so many items to find, it isnt a crushing loss. Great time kill and very satisfying to meet the objectives. I was hoping Desktop Dungeons would release for the iPhone, but this is perfect for what it sets out to be.

Tiny Fun (i.e. very little)

TL;DR Tiny mechanics, tiny rewards, tiny progression, tiny fun... not tiny enough price. -- I dont look for a lot in an iOS game, but this one is overly simple. I dont think it would be unfair to say it feels like a tech demo or proof of concept more than an actual game. As you progress deeper into the dungeon of each run, the enemies get stronger, but you never *really* seem to feel stronger yourself (leveling never feels like progressing). Completing the random quests or opening chests grants you nothing but points which serve... no purpose that Ive found yet? At FREE I would have deleted the app already. Having paid $2.99 Ive been attempting to give it a fair chance, hoping it would click and I would see the light. I fear it is a lost cause though. I do not recommend

Needs a "wait" button

Completely agree after playing it. Very fun little game, but in almost every single level you end up either having to waste an item or let yourself get hit. There are no other options. This ruins the fun of it and makes it frustrating. Please add a skip turn or wait button. :(

Almost great

First, the point of the game is that there is a high price for "wait". The game play is great. But the reply value isnt only for high score and thats less than motivations. Id love to see unlockables or something to keep me coming back. Also the settings dont stick so every time I start the game I get a blast of music over my podcast.

GREAT BUT IDEA! PLZ LISTEN!

This game is so fantastic with its design and gameplay. Every time I lose I just keep trying again. Its really great and all but I think what would make this so much better is if this game has changeable character colors and a changeable helmet. Its sounds weird I know but customization is life it some people and it really adds the feel of originality. Perhaps even a random selected reward if you properly complete the quest. These are all just ideas I feel would improve the game but overall its a great game. Keep up the good work.

Great roguelike

Fun and tactically rich. Second only to Hoplite on the App Store.

Good app but no game save?

The game is enjoyable, save one critical issue. Sometimes if you minimize the app mid-game, then return later, the app starts a new game with no option to retrieve the previous game. This is quite frustrating. This issued needs to get rectified, either that or introduce a save game option.

Great game with greater potential

I never leave reviews but Im really enjoying this game - Im a big sucker for rogue-like games. Love the art style and simplicity of this game. It doesnt overcomplicate things needlessly and its got that "one more round" feel to it. That being said, there are two things that I think would really up this games quality a lot: 1) An inventory screen. Maybe its in here and I cant find it, but when Im on my tenth play through for the day and I have to take a break and come back to it, I have NO earthly idea what power-ups Ive picked and its pretty much a guarantee Ill die because Ill do something stupid I didnt need to do if I had known an upgraded spell I was holding wouldve taken care of it. 2) Faster + more responsive movement. Especially once a floor is clear or there is just one skeleton left, I want to zip around the floor fast like in other rogues. This always just feels very awkward. Keep up the good work!

great concept but

I enjoyed this game. well made. however I felt like I "beat" it too quickly. wasnt long before my level was maxed and the quest done so it was just a repeat of the same difficulty level over and over to make it "infinite." Id like the dungeon difficulty and level to continue to progress.

Meh

Its only rogue like in the most basic sense. Either a "wait" gesture or allowing diagonal moves would be really handy and inventory space is disappointing. Its more like a puzzle game than an adventure. The more I played it the less I liked it.

Lacks goals after boss

This is a really good Rogue application. Frequently brings a smile to my face. My only critique is that once you found the princess or killed the dragon (etc.) its just a game of beating the old record. Of course, this was the way the original Rogue game worked back in the 1980s but surely it can evolve a bit.

Fun but too simple

Fully reliant on the score board. Not collectibles, no upgrades, no other characters. Just high score. Thats too bad because the control are great and Ive been looking high and low for a rogue-like that can be played vertically!

Needs cumulative progress to stay interesting.

This game is fun but theres no way to grow and get farther each play through so eventually it becomes very repetitive with no incentive to keep playing.
